A Global Journey Through Six Gesha Expressions

The 2025 release unites six Gesha coffees in 60 grams bags: washed, natural, and POMA’s pioneering Cold Washed process are exclusively selected for this project. From the volcanic slopes of Costa Rica to the ancient forests of Ethiopia, each coffee showcases the inherent beauty, purity, and aromatic depth of the Gesha variety.

This collection also features a landmark coffee from a POMA-managed research plot in Embu, Kenya, where founder Rasmus Madsen leads exploratory work on shade management, soil health, and regenerative cultivation. The Kenyan lot serves as a proof of concept for POMA’s ongoing agricultural innovation efforts.

Innovation Spotlight: The Cold Washed Process

POMA advances coffee processing with its signature Cold Washed Process, created to preserve the variety’s purest characteristics while avoiding fermentation-related alteration.

Cold Washed Process:
• Chilling cherries for 48 hours at 8°C to intensify aromatic precursors
• Low-temperature washing to protect volatile flavor compounds
• Controlled drying in a pressurized tumble dryer for precise consistency

By minimizing microbial activity and oxidation, this technique highlights the coffee’s genetically inherent flavors, this process results in a cup that is clean, crisp, sweet, and highly expressive, with elevated fruity esters and floral terpene structure.

The Six Coffees

  1. Costa Rica – Volcán Azul – Cold Washed Geisha
Expect heightened varietal purity with aromas of jasmine, elderflower, and peach, carried by a coating mouthfeel and long, sweet finish.
  2. Panama – Finca Nuguo – Washed Geisha
Delicate aromatics of jasmine and white tea, unfolding into yellow peach, apricot, and Meyer lemon, with a refined, honeyed aftertaste.
  3. Colombia – Jardines del Eden – Natural Geisha
Luminous florals of jasmine and orange blossom paired with strawberry, peach, mango, and passionfruit, supported by juicy, wine-like acidity.
  4. Ethiopia – Gesha Village – Natural Geisha

  5. Kenya – POMA Research Plot – Washed Geisha
A milestone lot with jasmine, lemon verbena, white peach, nectarine, and grapefruit, elevated by a subtle blackcurrant thread—a nod to Kenyan terroir.
