AeroPress Just Released A Smart New Hand Grinder

by admin

I don’t remember the last time I made an AeroPress without using a hand grinder. This isn’t a knock on the AeroPress but rather a statement of how successfully it has come to dominate outdoor and on-the-go coffee making for the quality minded. So it makes sense for AeroPress to make a move into the hand grinder market, which is exactly what they just done, and they have fixed one of the biggest portability issues for on-the-go coffee.

Announced November 5th, the AeroPress Manual Grinder was designed specifically to be used alongside the AeroPress brewer. Built around 38mm titanium coated conical burrs, the 25g capacity grinder features over 60 grind settings, ranging from ultra-fine for espresso to coarse for cold brew. It also comes factory set to a medium-fine grind size suitable for AeroPress brewing to give you a jumping off point.

The features of all-metal construction grinder were created with outdoor use and portability in mind, and this is most prevalent in the thoughtfulness of its shape. The extra-long handle and dual bearings allows for better leverage and easier grinding. The coolest feature of the grinder though is the shape. The AeroPress Manual Grinder is ultra-slim, designed specifically to nest inside the plunger of an AeroPress brewer. There have been other hand grinders small enough to fit theoretically, the Porlex in particular, but in practice it was not always the case. The AeroPress Manual Grinder fixes that.

Meanwhile, a magnetic side groove along the body is meant to store the handle while not in use. These features alone solve one of the bulkier issues in portable coffee setups. No longer are your brewer and your grinder separate, space consuming pieces. They now fit together in one efficient package.

“This launch is more than a new product—it reflects AeroPress’s evolution as a brand,” AeroPress CMO David Cole states in the announcement. “We worked closely with a group of baristas, competitors, and coffee professionals to validate every choice—from Italian-made burrs to 60+ precise grind settings—to ensure our promise of a high-performance and reliably versatile coffee experience. Their insights helped fine-tune each element, so it performs at the highest standards anywhere you brew.”

The AeroPress Manual Grinder retails for $200 and is available for purchase directly from AeroPress.

As a fan of outdoor coffee making, this is admittedly an exciting development. The better the gear I can take deeper into the untamed world without having to sacrifice the limited space available in my pack the better. That said, I wouldn’t say no to a big boy that fit neatly inside the AeroPress XL.
