Body Count’s Now In The Coffee House…

by admin

Body Count’s impact on music and culture cannot be stated enough. Body Count is the legit, raw, deadly blend of Rap, Thrash, and Hardcore that emptied the clip into the MTV generation. In an era of headline sensationalism, it’s hard to explain to Gen Z that the world actually thought an Afro-Latino Heavy Metal band from South Central might be taken out by the LAPD at any moment, or permanently disappeared by the FBI; and that in itself is a drastic understatement of the mere level of controversy Body Count faced point-blank in attacking topics like racism, police brutality, and class warfare. In stark contrast to the safety in resignation and introspection of predominately white middle class suburbanite youths experiencing the Grunge era, Body Count went to war with the foundational corruptness of generational and cultural ills back then; and continuing on 35+ years from their seminal debut, there is no shortage of moving targets for BC to unload the clip on.

“I was born in Cuba, and coffee has always ran through my veins. Creating a “Body Count – Body Bag” blend brings together two things I love most: Metal music and coffee.” Juan of the Dead

Albeit 80% of all Arabica coffee beans originate in Latin America, only 13% of independent coffee brands in the US are Latino-owned, and African-American-owned coffee brands are poorly represented even more at a mere 12%. Besides those cheesy Juan Valdez commercials you probably remember from the 80’s, you rarely see Black & Hispanic culture represented in contemporary coffee culture (especially today), much less when you blend in extreme music subculture. So, why shouldn’t people of color have more representation and a bigger stake in an almost $350B industry alone here in this country?

In comes Body Count… and not with just some fake-ass, gimmicky money-grab, but a legit traceable 100% Specialty Grade Mexico-Ethiopian blend that lights up and fires up your senses like a drive-by rather than a drive-thru. Besides Body Count’s uncompromising persistence to represent their cultural roots and heritage, BC’s coffee is actually roasted by a Latina born and raised in LA. When it comes to the packaging, there’s no whitewashed Kevlar, just a straight-up stark black body bag design, that’s unwavering in its raw intensity.

Body Count decided to partner with the rebellious private label coffee provocateurs Concept Cafes, the same innovators who with Cannibal Corpse put a disemboweled zombie cannibalizing coffee from a decapitated zombie head on the front of a coffee bag. Concept’s founder Mike Tonsetic says of the collaboration, “Look, I love coffee, but I’ve ALWAYS unabashedly stated my disdain for what coffee culture has become. It’s so typecast(e); like unless you’re some mismatched-mustached incel in a giftshop ballcap reciting something you picked up from the back of a tour brochure, the industry is not giving you ANY respect. I mean, when I think coffee, I see Willem Dafoe in the diner scene from The Loveless, now that’s fuckin’ COOL! You know what else is cool… Body Count! And you know what else is really fuckin’ cool… disrupting the system and bringing awareness to the financial, racial, and cultural inequality and imbalance in an industry where 66% of all Americans use the product on a daily basis; and it comes in a body bag, now that’s making a statement and leaving a calling card!’

Body Count coffee is ALREADY here, and it’s not going anywhere; and they’re coming to your neighborhood next. They’re not only changing how the game is played corner-to-corner, but bringing a specialty coffee product to the mainstream so it’s accessible to everybody, no matter your race, culture, or economic status; that’s what’s up. So chain-up the café doors, and board up the windows, because BC is locked & loaded, and ready to torch this muthafucka!!!

BC’s coffee just debuted at Spooky Empire horror con in Orlando, FL and will also be debuting at DownloadUK Fest June 10th -14th. SUBSCRIBE & FOLLOW to https://bodycountband.com/ for updates on new coffee products, special promos, and future events.

About CONCEPT CAFES
Everybody remembers that first opening riff, that mid-song breakdown, that blast beat crescendo that turned them on, and tuned them into Metal forever. With our artist partners like Cannibal Corpse, Max & Iggor Cavalera, and Ministry; we’re trying to recapture that moment of Metal possession for the fans by immersing them into a Metal coffee obsession like no other. As lifelong fans ourselves, we’re constantly seeking out the most epic Metal experiences; whether it’s records, live shows, merch, etc., so if we can maybe someday say we were a small part of that collective fan experience, then we’ve done our job. It’s also super important for us to illuminate the fact that these are the artists’ coffee stories, not our own, we’re just the chaotic-evil little elves that help them conjure their visions and forge them into reality for the fans.

We’re not here to snobbishly push conventional coffee culture upon Metalheads either, nor will we ever try to flip a quick gimmick on our Metal brothers & sisters to make a quick buck. We’re humbled literally everyday with this responsibility, and the opportunity to work with Metal legends. This is why we are constantly pushing the boundaries and possibilities, because foremost we believe there is no other comparison to the dedicated devotion metalheads have in keeping Metal music alive and stronger than ever! Metal deserves the absolute best when it comes to coffee!

Reality is coffee culture has become basic cookie-cutter over the past couple of decades; so safe and just a shell of itself which once fueled artists and their music across several generations. We want to revive that creative fire, and as far as playing it safe…it’s metal, motorcycles, & horror…what did you expect?!
