La Marzocco Teams Up With Porsche For Two Sporty New Micra Espresso Machines

by admin

A good espresso machine these days will run you about the same as that of a car. But what if you want your espresso machine to look like a car? And not just any car, but a really fast one. For that, there is the latest collaboration between La Marzocco and Porsche. The Italian espresso machine maker and the German sports car manufacturer have teamed up for a limited run of Porsche-inspired Linea Micra espresso machines.

It’s like the poet Carl Brutananadilewski once said, “It’s like my pool is tearing ass around the backyard, but it’s staying still.” So too can it be said of the Micra in your kitchen. The collab espresso machine comes available in two distinct designs. There is the Slate Grey Neo, an homage to the original Porsche color. And there’s the Martini Racing design, inspired by the 911 Carrera RSR that “pays tribute to the long-standing partnership between Porsche and Martini Racing.”

Whereas the former offers a more reserved look and muscular but matted tones, the latter design really opens it up. Porsche red around the drip tray and ‘70s inspired blue and red racing stripes wind around the front and side of the body. Other Porsche-inspired design details include steam wand and hot water handles reminiscent of the sports car’s drive mode switch, and the Micra’s pressure gauges look like a Porsche speedometer.

Only 911 of the espresso machines will be made, yet another nod to Porsche and their 911 series.

“Like Porsche, we combine traditional craftsmanship with innovative technology and distinctive design,” states La Marzocco’s Chief Marketing Officer Chris Salierno. “This special edition of the Linea Micra is aimed at espresso enthusiasts and all those who fulfill their dreams of an exclusive lifestyle.”

The Porsche x La Marzocco collab espresso machine debuted earlier this week in London at Soho Farmhouse as well as at a pop-up cafe in Los Angeles. It also made an appearance a few days later at the Shanghai Coffee Festival.

Both versions of the Micra are available for purchase at Porsche centers as well as the company’s online shop. They retail for $6,555 for the Slate Grey Neo and $6,949 for the Martini Racing. And if you are going to drop that sort of coin, may as well at a matching Slate Grey Neo Pico grinder for $1,840.

Italian muscle and German engineering. Italian engineering and German muscle. However you slice it, it’s one sexy looking machine.
