Build-Outs Of Coffee: Kopikina Heulang In Bogor City, Indonesia

Our eyes are bugging out of our heads. Our jaws are on the floor. Get a load of this stunning, soaring, design-minded new coffee bar in Indonesia, on the island of West Java around 30 miles south of Jakarta. The use of colors, natural materials, vintage technology, and traditional Javanese art are all outstanding, and taken together the design milieu is irresistible. It’s early still, but this won’t surprise us one bit to land as a top new build-out featured in this year’s feature series. Let’s learn more.

For those who aren’t familiar, will you tell us about your company?

Kopikina is an Indonesian specialty coffee brand built around the idea of “Specialty for everyone,” combining high-quality, carefully curated local coffee with a warm, approachable, and community-driven experience. Since 2013, Kopikina has grown beyond being just a coffee shop into a cultural neighborhood hub where coffee, music, creativity, and everyday social life naturally come together.

Can you tell us a bit about the new space?

Kopikina Heulang is Kopikina’s first venture outside Jakarta, bringing our vision of “Specialty for everyone” into a new neighborhood through a more immersive and experiential approach to coffee culture. Located in Bogor, Heulang is designed as more than just a cafe, combining thoughtfully curated Indonesian specialty coffee, warm hospitality, communal spaces, and a slower, more grounded atmosphere that encourages people to gather, connect, and stay awhile.

What’s your approach to coffee?

Specialty coffee should be inclusive and accessible. It is a medium for human connection. Instead of a heavy topic, we deliver our passion for specialty coffee as an enjoyable and fun thing we can share. Hence our motto “Specialty For Everyone.”

Any machines, coffees, special equipment lined up?

We use high coffee equipments at our cafe such as Mahlkönig and Mazzer grinders, and La Marzocco and Victoria Arduino espresso machines. We also display our beans collection on a freezer for our customers to pick and choose and then we hand brew it at our manual brew bar.

How is your project considering sustainability?

All of our coffee are purchased directly from the farmer or processor as we constantly maintain direct trade with them.

What’s your hopeful target opening date/month?

We opened our store on 9 February 2026.

Are you working with craftspeople, architects, and/or creatives that you’d like to mention?

Our architect was Studio Terasu while our Creative & Visual Team are entirely in house.
